FAQs

Why engage an accredited Appraiser?

The American Society of Appraisers awards the designation Accredited Senior Appraiser after a candidate or accredited member has completed course work, submitted appraisals for review and approval, achieved many thousands of hours of valuation and appraisal work. Once the designation has been earned the appraiser must frequently update his knowledge through continuing education with review every five years, and hold to the highest ethical standards. Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) requires that personal property appraisers take an initial 15 hour course and be retested through a 7 hour course every two years.

What do you appraise?

We specialize in the valuation of concrete related machinery and peripheral equipment, as well as rolling equipment.

Why would I need an appraisal?

There are many reasons why someone may need an appraisal of machinery and equipment.  Among the more common uses are:

  •  You may be buying or selling a company

  • You are party to a business merger or buyout

  • You are offering the machinery and equipment as collateral for financing

  • You are a lending institution and you need to make sure you are not over advancing on collateral or you need to examine a liquidation scenario

  • You are an equipment leasing company and need to know the value of the equipment for residual determination or residual negotiation

  • You are party to a matrimonial issue involving machinery and equipment

How do you determine the value of the assets?

Determining values is not always clear cut. While there is a great deal of information on the Internet, there is also a great deal of misinformation on the Internet. What do you believe? We go beyond the Internet and interview industry experts including, but not limited to equipment manufacturers and/or their dealers so that you can gain comfort with our results. The iwi group LLC has sales data going back more than 20 years. Our appraisers use this body of knowledge to develop current value using the sales or market approach to value.

How much will an appraisal cost?

Appraisal cost depends on many factors including but not limited to:

  •  Number of pieces of equipment or machinery to be appraised

  • The Client’s deadline for completion

  • The length of time it will take to inventory the equipment

  • The length of time it will take to research the equipment
